In this week’s episode of Arthritis At Home, ACE President, Cheryl Koehn has a conversation with Dr. Michel Zummer, Professor of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, University of Montreal and Past President, Canadian Rheumatology Association and one of the leading voices for arthritis in Quebec.

As one of the architects of the Arthritis Alliance of Canada’s toolkit for models of care for inflammatory arthritis, Dr. Zummer discusses the advancement of models of care implementation in Quebec, including centralized triage and the expanded role of nurse practitioners. In the context of the upcoming publication of ACE’s 2020 Arthritis Medications Report Card, which sees Quebec improving its ranking, Dr. Zummer also reviews the performance of the provincial drug plan – INESSS, Institut national d’excellence en santé et services sociaux. In the last part of the episode, he reviews how rheumatology clinical practice has changed and continues to evolve during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the accelerated use of virtual care platforms to connect patients with their healthcare providers.
